AMC held the Painting Contest for Kids as its 7th Childrens Day celebration, providing children a unique experience and the chance to enjoy the outdoors. An array of special programs was also prepared to celebrate the 20th anniversary of AMC and the opening of its Pediatric and Adolescent Hospital. Reporter Chu Ho Seon has the story. Green and growth are associated with the month of May. It is also the month with the Childrens Day. I am now on the playground of Pungseong Middle School. This years event celebrating the 87th Childrens Day brought together children of the AMC staff and residents as well as 1,000 current and former pediatric patients, parents and guardians. Children are running around, laughing with their faces painted with different colors. Parents are enjoying the lazy day in the sun, building unforgettable memories with children. Nurse Kim Hi Yeong NICU We have been waiting for this painting contest since last year. The weather cannot be nicer, and I think the contest is both fun and educational for my children. I was also surprised to see so many programs taking place here. Free physical checkups, face painting, cotton candies and the playground for kidsIts just amazing. My children at this moment are working on their masterpieces. Kim Tae Hui (37) from Guoe-dong, Gwangjin-gu I thought this painting contest would be a unique experience for my kids. Im glad they are having so much fun here. Kim Tae Yun (11) from Singok-dong, Uijeongbu Its fun to take part in the painting contest. I feel like a real painter. Participants also took part in body painting, played with oversized balloons, and enjoyed singing and dancing on the stage, having a marvelous time. AMC also prepared a number of indoor programs such as the puppet show, the magic show and the cookie baking class for pediatric patients who cannot participate in the outdoor events. The figure skating star Kim Yuna paid a surprise visit to the pediatric cancer ward and wished all the patients a full and fast recovery. These children are our tomorrow. We must try our best to help their dreams come true. Chu Ho Seon, AMC NEWS.
