AMC's Department of Radiation Oncology, which has been making great strides since 1989 when it first opened its door to the public by treating cervix cancer patients, held a symposium to celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. The symposium commenced with President Lee Jung Shin's congratulatory speech and proceeded according to the themes of the Past, Present and Future of the Department of Radiation Oncology and Future Direction for Radiation Oncology. The symposium provided the chance to take a look back at the department's outcomes and changes for the past 2 decades. It was attended by many local and international scholars including Professor James Cox from the University of Texas. Also, treatment and research results of the cases of rectal, esophagus, head and neck and lung cancers were presented and received much attention at the symposium. AMC's Department of Radiation Oncology, which continue to expand the scope of cancer treatment, has pioneered many firsts in radiation since 1995 when it began 3D angiography.
